Huntingdon could soon be home to a Kurdish restaurant.

Mustafa Topalca has submitted change of use plans to turn the former Careys Amusements building, in Market Hill, into an 80-cover restaurant.

If the plans are successful Mr Topalca will take over the unit, which has been vacant for some years.

The restaurant, which would create at least 10 jobs, would be open from 7am-10pm Monday to Saturday and 9am-9pm on Sundays and bank holidays.

The application says: “We believe change of use of this vacant unit would not result in concentration of A3 in the area.

“This would be a nice eatery for the local people. It will benefit this area by re-opening an empty unit, on this limited parade.

“The vacant unit is a financial and trade loss for the owner, council and the local people.

“The proposed eatery will provide employment for at least 10 people in the area, which will be beneficial to job seeking people.

“We believe that this project will be a very beneficial project for all the above reasons and believe the change of use should be granted for this vacant unit.”
