IT’S OVER: Teenager Harry O’Driscoll was joined by more than 80 friends and family for the final night of his year spent sleeping in a tent.
The 13-year-old, from Buckden, has camped out every night since August 24 last year and has raised over £6,000 for the extension at Huntingdon Gymnastics Club where he trains for 18 hours a week.
To celebrate his achievement, the gym club hosted Harry’s Hullabaloo on Saturday (August 24) and campers enjoyed a hog roast, courtesy of G Day and Son in Buckden, a disco and toasted marshmallows.
There might have been torrential rain, but it was nothing for Harry who braved snow, frosts, thunderstorms, gales and heat waves during his 12 months under canvas, never missing a night.
Huntingdon Gymnastics Club head coach Paul Hall added: “Harry’s is an amazing story and an inspiration to all of us here at the gym. It has been quite a challenge to raise enough money to be able to realise our dream of a new facility, but Harry has kept us all motivated with his determination to see his task through to the end.”
