A WOMAN and her pet terrier were injured during a dog attack in St Neots.

The incident took place on Tuesday (September 7) just before 8am in Falstaff Road when a 63-year-old woman was walking a Lurcher and a terrier on leads.

A German Shepherd was being walked on a lead by a teenage girl on a grassy area on the opposite side of the road. The German Shepherd managed to break free and attack the terrier dog. It held the terrier in its mouth and shook it. In trying to rescue the terrier, the woman suffered a minor injury to her hand.

The terrier was not seriously hurt but did require veterinary treatment.

Police are trying to trace the owner of the German Shepherd. It was described as light coloured and was being walked on a pink-handled lead by a girl who was about 14 years old.

PC Lorna Owen, who is investigating, said: “Luckily the terrier was not seriously injured but it could have been worse and the German Shepherd dog was clearly not under control.

“Anyone who believes they know who owns this dog should contact police.”
