A St Neots playgroup’s summer fair has been saved after a replacement costume for children’s character Peppa Pig – who was detained in customs – has been found.

The Hunts Post launched an appeal to find an outfit for the day after Priory Park Playgroup fundraising manager Kelly Holmes ordered what she thought was a genuine Peppa Pig outfit from eBay at a cost of £210 – only for it to be held in customs after officers found that it infringed intellectual property rights.

But now, thanks to Folksworth Pre-School, Peppa will be making an appearance on the day. The Hunts Post received calls and emails from six readers keen to help replace the star attraction.

Jade Smith, manager of Folksworth Pre-School, said: “It will just be lovely for the children – they all love Peppa Pig.

“We have got one [a summer fair] as well so we know how difficult it is – it all about fundraising and it is all for charity. We would have liked somebody to have done it for us.”

Mrs Holmes added: “I would like to say a great big thank you for helping us.”

INFORMATION: The fair will be held from 11am-2pm on Saturday, June 28, at the playgroup’s site on Almond Road. Entry by donation.
