St Neots Mayor Councillor Barry Chapman opened the event in Riverside Park to 500 people but 1,000 more people turned up throughout the afternoon.

VAMPS, St Neots Concert Band, Riverside Theatre, St Neots Singers, Belle Musique, Marie Thomas, and the St Neots Big Band provided the entertainment as the nation united to end the Olympic and Paralympic Games in the largest Bandstand Marathon.

Cllr Chapman said: “It was great that St Neots was chosen as our area’s venue for this national event to coincide with the end of London 2012.”
