Members of Hanover Close sheltered housing complex have donated four large boxes of food to the Trussell Trust in Cambridge.

The Trust is a Christian enterprise organisation which aims to empower local communities to combat poverty and exclusion.

Between April 2011-2012 their food-bank projects helped over 128,687 people across the UK.

Last year, the Cambridge branch provided foodboxes – each of which contains a minimum of three days nutritionally balanced, non-perishable food – to over 15,000 people.

Hanover Close Manager, Denise Gable, told The Hunts Post: “I got the idea after seeing the food bank in action on BBC Look East.

All 52 residents took part, and picked up items from the foodbank shopping list whenever they went into town.

Cambridge foodbank co-ordinator Angie Campbell, told The Hunts Post: “XX.leave 2parsXXX.
