A PAINSTAKING police investigation unearthed a St Ives man’s sexual abuse dating back more than 20 years.

Graham Glennie has now been jailed for eight years and dubbed “a danger to children” after a computer repair man discovered an indecent image of a child on his broken laptop.

Officers were called in and uncovered DVDs, CDs and VHS tapes which contained thousands of indecent images at the address where he was staying.

They spent the next three months building up evidence against the 51-year-old and found he had abused a girl in the 1980s, as well as a seven-year-old boy in the 1990s.

He also abused a boy in Turkey between 2007 and 2010 before he returned to Huntingdonshire this year.

Detective Constable Derek Cornhill, who led the investigation, said: “This case was triggered after a concerned member of the public brought in evidence recovered from Graham Glennie’s laptop.

“From this, and a subsequent search of his address, we uncovered abuse that dated back to the mid-1980s.

“Glennie is a danger to children and we are pleased the court has passed a sentence which reflects the severity of his crimes.”

The defendant had pleaded guilty to 16 offences of making indecent images of children and nine offences involving indecency before he was sentenced at Peterborough Crown Court on Thursday (November 4).

In addition, the judge imposed a sexual offences prevention order which restricts his future access to children and computer equipment and bans him from working with young people. He has also been placed on the sex offenders’ register.
