A very rare opportunity has presented itself to purchase a home packed with period features and bespoke furnishings which would be suitable for first-time buyers – no matter what their age.
But they would not be able to move in – only their dolls would fit.
This magnificent dolls’ house is being auctioned off, with help from The Hunts Post, in aid of the Woodlands Cancer Centre extension appeal.
We are calling on readers to submit bids in our secret auction to raise vital funds so that the unit at Hinchingbrooke Hospital can be extended and more patients can be treated there for cancer.
Potential buyers should note, this is a spacious home. It is more than 2ft tall and 3ft wide, although that increases to just over 3ft tall and 7ft wide when it is opened up. It’s also 19 inches deep.
The whole thing has been created with a great deal of care and attention to detail and comes complete with remote controlled lighting.
If sold in a shop, it would be expected to fetch about £1,000, although that would not include the furniture, which is hand-made.
It was originally donated to Deborah Reynolds, a district councillor and former St Ives mayor, who was organising a charity ball in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support and the Woodlands Centre.
“It came from a resident in The Views (Huntingdon),” she said. “His wife had died and it had been made for her and he gave it to us because he wanted to support Woodlands. We have had it for ages but haven’t been able to find a new owner.”
So it’s over to you. Perhaps you have always wanted to own the home of your dreams or you know someone who needs somewhere for their collection of dolls.
To be in with a chance of owning the house, simply take part in our secret auction. Come up with a figure for how much you would be prepared to pay for it, as well as all its furniture. Then send your bid to The Dolls’ House Bid, The Hunts Post, 30 High Street, Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire, PE29 3TB, or send an email to email@example.com. All bids need to be submitted by Friday, June 20.
In the event of a tie, bidders will be contacted within 24 hours and given the opportunity to raise their bid. The house will be sold to the highest bidder, provided it makes its reserve price.
