A SERIES of exhibitions are being held this month to offer people the chance to find out more about proposed wind farm developments in Perry and Woolley Hill.

A SERIES of exhibitions are being held this month to offer people the chance to find out more about proposed wind farm developments in Woolley Hill and Perry.

The first exhibition is taking place at Southoe Village Hall on Tuesday (September 7) from 3.30pm to 7.30pm.

Those who visit the hall will be able to hear about plans by TCI Renewables Limited to construct four turbines of up to 140metres at Highfield Farm, between Perry and Southoe.

The exhibition will outline the key elements of the proposal and offer an opportunity for residents to meet the development team. According to the company, based on the average UK household electricity consumption, the proposed wind farm could generate enough electricity to supply 5,000 homes.

Another exhibition on the same proposal will be held later this month at the Wheatsheaf pub in Perry on 27 September from 3.30pm to 7.30pm.

Elsewhere in Huntingdonshire, exhibitions are taking place to outline proposals by RES UK to construct up to seven turbines at 127metres at Woolley Hill.

A planning application is expected to be submitted to Huntingdonshire District Council next month (October).

Anyone wanting to find out more can attend an exhibition on Wednesday, September 8 at Ellington Village Hall from 2pm to 8pm or Alconbury Sports and Social Club on Thursday, September 9 from 4pm to 8pm.

Ros Wolfe, who says her home would be 800metres from a turbine if the application is given the go-ahead said: “I’m opposing the development as the visual impact on the area would be devastating. If you have an opinion on the turbines it is vital that you attend one of these consultations and back this up in writing to the district council. Please do not be complacent as this will affect us for at least the next 25 years.”
