A man suffered “life threatening” injuries after being stabbed in a block of flats in Dukes Road, Eaton Socon, in the early hours of yesterday morning.
Officers arrived at the scene just after 3am and the 26-year-old was taken to Addenbrookes Hospital, where he remains in a critical condition.
A 22-year-old man was later arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and is currently in custody at Huntingdon Police Station.
Today (Monday), officers continued to undertake forensic work at the scene.
A police spokesman said: “Police are investigating after a man suffered serious injuries in Dukes Road, Eaton Socon.
“Officers were called just after 3am yesterday (Sunday) following reports of an assault.
“A man in his 20s was seriously injured and is currently being treated in hospital.
“A 22-year-old man from Huntingdon was arrested and remains in custody.”
A spokesman for the East of England Ambulance Service added: “We were called at 3.17am to Dukes Road where a 26-year-old man had suffered from stab wound injuries. We sent an ambulance, a rapid response vehicle and a BASICS team and he was taken to Addenbrookes Hospital with life threatening injuries.”
Police are appealing to anyone who may have any information to contact them.
Detective Chief Inspector Jon Hutchinson from the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Major Crime unit said: “Details about this incident remain sketchy and I would like to hear from anyone who was in the Dukes Road area yesterday morning and has any information about this incident.
“Any information, no matter how small, could prove vital to our investigation.”
