One fire crew from Sutton and one from Huntingdon were called to the A1123, Hill Row Causeway, at 12.17am on Saturday (August 16). A Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesman confirmed that they freed a casualty, who was trapped between the minibus and the wall, while another casualty had been released before their arrival. The East of England Ambulance Service sent two ambulances, two rapid response vehicles, and its hazardous area response team to the scene. Medics from the East Anglian Air Ambulance also attended in a response car.

The man, believed to be in his 20s and one of three occupants of the minibus, was given critical care treatment for injuries including to his head and leg, before being taken to Addenbrooke’s Hospital, Cambridge. A second casualty was also taken to the same hospital, although their injuries were not believed to be life-threatening.

Police closed the road following the crash, before reopening it at 2.14am.
