Mrs Baxter, of Ferrars Road, Huntingdon, has been visiting The Hunts Post office in Huntingdon every day since we started the appeal to raise £25,000 for her daughter’s life-saving operation in Belgium, collecting donations and keeping us updated with Laura’s progress.

“I just want to thank everyone for their support and kindness,” she said. “There have been lovely letters, and it’s fantastic how just wonderful everybody is being. Every donation, however great or small, counts – nothing is too small.

“I just think the people who have donated are fantastic. These people are out there and don’t know me or Laura, and they’re still happy to donate, especially with the economy the way it is.

“One of the letters from a lady who lost a 26-year-old daughter and she didn’t want me to have the same experience. I started crying reading what she had gone through, and she was helping me.”
