Parents at Cromwell Park Primary School, in Huntingdon, have put together a petition to try to stop cars parking outside the school.
Concerns have been raised by parents about the risks to children’s safety as they cross Cromwell Drive.
They say that since the Nisa shop in Parkway was opened, the roads have been much busier and parked cars make children less visible to drivers.
Janet Klokkaris, a member of the parent forum who also works at the school at dinner times, said: “We just want to keep the children safe. During the winter months last year we had some crazy parking all the way down Cromwell Drive and it just wasn’t safe.
“More than 100 people have signed the petition but we’re waiting for the council to adopt the road so that we can get parking measures in place.”
Cambridgeshire County Council will need to adopt the road from Barratt Homes before restrictions can be enforced.
