Four thatched roofs were set alight in Brampton between 1am and 1.15am yesterday (Thursday) - shortly after another home had been targeted in High Street, Offord.

The Brampton fires were in West End, High Street and two in The Green.

Police are linking the five fires along with a further incident in Miller Way, Brampton, in which some conifer cuttings were set alight and the flames spread to other trees.

Officers are also keeping an open mind as to whether a stack fire in Hemingford Grey is linked to the series.

Now police have released descriptions of two men they want to trace.

They are both white and 25 to 30. The first is described as 6’4’’ to 6’’6, thin and wearing a dark hooded top and dark trousers. The second was slightly shorter, stocky, with brown wavy hair and was wearing a grey hooded top and black trousers.

They are thought to have been travelling in a red hatchback with a loud exhaust.

Detective sergeant Iain Moor said: “These fires were extremely dangerous and it is fortunate that no one was seriously injured or killed.

“Thankfully the fires were spotted quickly and put out before they could take hold and cause serious damage.

“I would urge anyone who knows who was responsible or who recognises the descriptions, to call police.”

INFORMATION: Call DS Moor on 101 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111.
