First Capital Connect has been advised by Network Rail to run a revised timetable for today’s trains as a yellow warning of rain and strong winds if issued for the East of England.

Services to Peterborough leave St Neots at 42 minutes past the hour, and from Huntingdon 10 minutes later. There is also a 6.12pm and a 7.12pm train from St Neots, that arrives in Huntingdon 10 minutes later.

Trains to London from Huntingdon leave at 11 minutes past the hour and depart St Neots 10 minutes later.

The Met Office’s chief forecaster said: “The very unsettled period of weather is expected to continue with another intense area of low pressure developing over the Atlantic and tracking close to the northwest of the UK. Current indications are that southern England and south Wales are most at risk from further heavy rainfall, with the timing of the clearance of rain being the main uncertainty for this period - the rain probably clearing southeast England on Tuesday morning.”

The forecaster added: “A deep area of low pressure in the Atlantic will bring strengthening winds to England and Wales on Monday, especially southern parts. Gusts of 50-60 mph are likely inland, with 70-80 mph gusts possible along windward coasts, especially along the English Channel. There is also a low risk of 70 mph gusts extending further inland across southeast during Monday evening and overnight into Tuesday, before moderating on Tuesday morning.”
