More than 30,000 people, of staff, party-goers and artists, are expected at the Abbots Ripton festival, which starts today.

The A14 from Brampton Hut and the A141 between Spittals and Sawtry Way are extremely busy with motorists heading for the Secret Garden Party. Delays are also building between Kings Ripton and Abbots Ripton on the B1090.

Huntingdon’s ring road is also busy, as is the railway station which has people queueing for taxis and buses to the site.

A broken down vehicle on the A141 is partially blocking the road, causing further delays.

  • How "secret" is this Garden Party anyway? There seem to a fair few people in the know, judging by the amount of traffic on the local roads.

  • Alconbury? Rubbish, you must have the most sensitive hearing in the world. I also live in Alconbury and it's never been a problem. Relax a bit people, it is only four days, there's really much more in the world to worry about.

  • As far away as Alconbury we are trying to decide whether we lose sleep due to the incessant beat outside or shut the windows and boil to death (still doesn't keep the noise out). All so a bunch of beardy hippy types can jump around to the small hours. Great work.

  • I agree, we live in Wistow, and can't enjoy our garden while it is on, or have the windows open, but we too don't get offered any discount either.

  • I live in Hartford, where we're not entitled to any discount to the event (less than 2 miles away) - despite the impact it has on us. Nice one for the local community ;)
