Elvis (Miguel Olivares-Alvarez) performed in front of the school before teaching the choir to sing The Wonder of You – a version of the song which Presley released in 1970 and was No.1 in the UK charts for six weeks.

Pupils and their parents then came back into the hall and the choir gave its own performance of the song, as well as a few others.

Janet Mumford, who helps with the choir, said: “I thought that it would be a great experience for them as they wouldn’t know about Elvis.

“I saw him on a night out and asked him if he’d like to help out at the school and he was great.

“The children loved him and afterwards they asked him for autographs and he signed people’s arms as well. My children are still buzzing.”
