The one-year-old girl was being taken for a walk by her sister along the Town Bridge shortly after 4pm on Sunday (June 17) when she was struck by a stone injuring her eye and nose.

Police believe two boys were responsible for throwing the stone.

They are described as white and between 11 and 15.

One is described as having short dark hair, the other had long brown hair.

PC Carl Harris, investigating, said: “It is important we trace who is responsible because they need to understand how dangerous throwing stones can be.

“It is lucky the child did not suffer more serious injuries.

“This happened in a very busy area and I’m sure other people will have seen what happened.”

Anyone with any information should call PC Harris on 101 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111.
