ANGLIAN Water has apologised to Huntingdon residents whose homes were flooded after a water main burst.
Two properties in Maple Drive were affected by the burst at around 12.30pm today (Wednesday).
Flooring and belongings were damaged in the homes downhill of the leak. Nearby gardens were also flooded.
Antony Innes, from Anglian Water, said: “We are very sorry that two properties on Maple Drive, Huntingdon, were flooded when a nearby water main burst.
“This is clearly a very distressing time for the residents and I’d like to assure them we will be doing everything possible to make the situation right and get their homes back to normal as quickly as possible.
“We were first told about the burst main at 12:30pm on Wednesday. Engineers were quickly sent to stop the flow of water, shutting it off by 1:30pm. Regrettably, during this time water was flowing from the cracked pipe, causing damage to two homes downhill of the burst.
“Our insurers have already been informed and will be making direct contact with the customers this afternoon. Engineers will also be on-site repairing the pipe and doing all they can to help.”
