American woman caught shoplifting from St Ives charity shop

A WOMAN admitted stealing from a charity shop in St Ives.
Nadine Ray was stopped in Boots on October 2 by PCSO, Angie Wilson who spoke to her about shoplifting. The 27-year-old’s bag was searched and various items, including clothing, a purse, a brass trinket box and a candle, worth £21, were discovered with British Heart Foundation stickers on. The shop, in Sheep Market, confirmed that the goods had been taken.
Huntingdon Magistrates’ Court heard that Ray, of no fixed abode, had no previous convictions but had received a caution on September 29 for three shoplifting offences.
Ray, defending herself, said that she needed to get her life together and her offence was an act of stupidity.
She was given a 12-month conditional discharge and ordered to pay £25 contribution to court costs and £15 victim surcharge.
