Ambulance workers rewarded

AMBULANCE workers in Cambridgeshire have been honoured for providing outstanding care.

Dave Fountain, who manages operations across the county, picked up an Operational Leadership award at the East of England Ambulance Service Trust Oscars for his “consistent commitment to delivering excellent clinical care”.

Associate director of communications and engagement, Chris Hartley, who works at the Trust’s headquarters in Cambourne, also won the Corporate Leadership Award.

Speaking about his prize, Mr Fountain said: “I’m hugely proud, not just of this award but especially of the North West team.

“It’s important to recognise our staff and the awards are a great chance to celebrate the fantastic positives that so many people contribute to.”

In their nominations, his colleagues said: “He is a superb role model and the perfect example of what a senior ambulance service operational leader should be. Dave is an approachable leader respected by his staff and his peers.”

Mr Hartley said of his award: “It’s amazing, I’m really proud.

“The awards themselves are our chance to say thank you to all the staff who do a terrific job every day of the year.”

His colleagues added: “He is compassionate and thoughtful in his leadership, and keeps a strong focus on the team’s objectives and those of the Trust. He is an inspiration to all members of his team.”

More than 160 nominations for 13 categories were received, with the Cambridgeshire staff beating people from across the East of England region.
