CAMBRIDGESHIRE’S careers advice service will be on hand this week for A-level students achieving unexpected grades – whether they are better or worse than predicted.

Hundreds of young people across the county will be receiving their exam results tomorrow (Thursday).

The careers service, Connexions, part of Cambridgeshire County Council, provides a wide range of information, advice and guidance for all 13 to 19-year-olds in the county to enable them to make informed decisions about their futures.

Bryan Summers, a Connexions personal adviser, said: “If students only just miss out on the grades, they mustn’t panic. They should get in touch with the college, as they may still be admitted if the results are close enough.

“Students can go always through clearing to find another course – these are published by the Independent newspaper and are also available at www.ucas.co.uk.”

Other choices available to students include retaking exams, or taking a gap year and reapplying for 2011.
