  • So the A14 failed us again......Anyone who lives works or tavels in or around south west Cambridgeshire cannot have had a more distressing day. The A1 was backed up at the Buckden roundabout and worse still the A1 A428 junction was an absolute nightmare, where the traffic was backed up as far as Southoe at one time. I saw traffic chopping and changing lanes in order to get on to the A428 at Eaton Socan. As the local traffic was in gridlock according to BBC radio, I went to Cambourn using the A1 south then A603 and then up to Caxton on the old Ermine Street road . But on the way back from Cambourn, along the A428 the traffic was nose to tail right way back to the A1. All the local villages were being used as rat runs, even my village Southoe, there were cars trying to find a way to miss the mayhem, only to find themselves further back in the queue. The sooner the A14 and the A428 are sorted out, the better off we will all be. Alan Marnes Chairman Southoe and Midloe Parish Council

  • the A14 is only going to get worse with all the new houses being built in the area, lets hope the 5000 new houses on the former RAF Alconbury site are built after the A14 is upgraded. Dont think it will be done that way though as that would be showing common sense
