New ambulances will be in the streets of Huntingdonshire from next week.

Across the region the East of England Ambulance Service Trust (EEAST) is replacing 120 ambulances with new vehicles – Huntingdon will get two. The first will be delivered to Huntingdon ambulance station on Monday (March 10), the other will be stationed at the Hinchingbrooke Hospital depot from April 14. A third ambulance is also due to be stationed in Huntingdon after a survey last year identified the town’s additional need. A date has not yet been set for when this ambulance will be available.

Simon King, EEAST general manager for Cambridgeshire, said: “We’re really pleased to be able to replace our older ambulances with these brand new ones. It’s important that we have as many ambulances on the road as possible and it’s also vital that they are in good working condition so that they can respond to patients in a timely and safe manner.

“This has also been a real boost for the clinical staff working on them, as they recognise the importance of having reliable vehicles and the best possible environment in which to treat our patients.”
