Teenager Libby Moor is scared of heights ... but she’s putting her fears behind her when she leaps from a plane for a charity skydive.

The 17-year-old Hinchingbrooke School sixth-former, of Byron Close, Huntingdon, is raising money for the Make a Wish Foundation, which grants wishes to youngsters with life-threatening illnesses.

Libby, studying psychology, English and philosophy A-levels, came up with the idea for a fundraiser while considering her options for university. “It made me realise that while I’m worrying about having a future I should be grateful I have a future to worry about,” she said.

“The Make a Wish Foundation supports children who don’t have a future.”

Mum Sherry had set her daughter 18 challenges to complete before she turns 18, and doing an extreme sport was one. She said: “I’m scared of heights and a bit reluctant to go on rollercoasters so it’s a challenge for me as well.”

Libby, who has a sister, Alanna, 13, and two stepbrothers, Daniel, 14, and Rooney, nine, is doing the jump at Sibson Airfield, near Peterborough in February. She hopes to raise £1,500 and by last week had already topped £1,200.

“I’m overwhelmed by how generous people have been,” she said.
