A Huntingdonshire charity which provides bereavement support has received a cheque for £500 to support its work.

The chairman of Huntingdonshire District Council, Councillor Peter Bucknell, selected Cruse Bereavement Support as one of his charities for the year and presented them with the funds at Huntingdon Methodist Church on April 11.

As well as hosting friendship groups in Huntingdon, St Ives, and St Neots, the charity also offers face-to-face support for people.

Ruth Dube, acting chairman of the Huntingdonshire branch, said: ““The councillor’s donation will go towards recruitment and training of new volunteers. More volunteers will enable us to reduce waiting lists and ensure we provide the best care for members of our community.”

Mrs Dube said the funds would be used to help continue the charities activities in the district.
