Friends of a young man who died in a St Neots car crash gathered for a darts tournament in his memory.

On Saturday (May 10), 32 people took part in the contest at the RAFA Club on Huntingdon Street, St Neots, in honour of Ryan Stringer, 21, of Vicarage Walk, Great Staughton. On the night, more than 30 people turned out to show their support for the event, which raised £250 for his parents’ charity of choice.

The trophies were presented to the winner Trevor Ellacott and runner-up Nick Bunn by Mr Stringer’s parents, Sally and Andy Stringer.

Mr Stringer was killed in an accident on the Great Staughton Road between the village and Pertenhall when his car crashed into a ditch on March 13. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

He was a keen darts player who had been part of various teams including the Kimbolton and District Darts League, Bedfordshire County Youth, and the Eynesbury and St Neots Darts League.

Matt Truman, who organised the event, said: “I would like to thank everyone who turned up and supported the event, the RAFA Club for the hall and food, Endersby Awards for the trophies and Dave Davies and Chris Hayter in helping me run the event and Martin McElhone for the raffle.”
