Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service received no 999 calls during the strike action this morning.

Members of the Fire Brigades Union (FBU) went on strike between 6.30am and 8.30am today (Friday, January 3) during which time fire engines were

crewed by on-call firefighters, operational managers and senior staff from across the service.

Chris Strickland, Deputy Chief Fire Officer at Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service, said: “Whilst our day-to-day services were severely disrupted

by the strike, the commitment of our on-call, support and operational managers ensured we were able to fulfil our legal duty to provide a fire and

rescue service.

“Our thanks goes out to the community for taking extra care this morning and putting safety at the forefront of their minds.”
