AFTER years of seeing her mother date some men who were “liars, cheats, smelly or just plain weird” a Huntingdonshire daughter has turned to Facebook to find her mum a new man.

Roz Naderer, 58, is twice divorced and has had a string of nightmare relationships and dates – including a man who posed as a widower when he was still married.

After another disastrous date last Saturday, Roz’s daughter Emily Wheeler and son-in-law Simon, who themselves met on a dating site seven years ago, decided enough was enough.

In an attempt to find Roz a partner, they created a Facebook page titled ‘Date my mum’ to try to find a suitable partner for the unlucky-in-love mother of four.

Roz, who is temporarily living with Emily, Simon and their two-year-old son Harris, in Sumerling Way, Bluntisham, said: “I’ve had some disastrous dates using internet dating sites and I know that other people have.

“One of the guys I met and had a relationship with for two years said that he was a widower and his wife had died of breast cancer.”

But it was not true ... the man was still married.

Roz said he claimed he was going away on business trips and went to spend time with his wife.

She only found out about the deception when her former partner’s mail was redirected to her house ... including some letters addressed to his supposedly dead spouse.

Roz said: “He told me that they wouldn’t accept that she was dead and kept sending her letters, but then I opened one and it said ‘Thank you so much for attending our event last month.’”

Another of Roz’s long-term relationships was with a one-legged man who she lived with in Northumbria.

“When I first met him he was really nice but after I moved in he became really possessive and didn’t like the family visiting,” she said.

“He told me he lost his leg because he had an accident but it turned out it was because he’d tried to commit suicide and had ended up landing on a fence ”

In her last romantic outing on Saturday, Roz’s date promptly went to the toilet before returning to claim his best friend’s car had broken down and he had leave.

Her 42-year-old son-in-law Simon turned to Facebook.

He works as a graphic designer and helps companies to market themselves on Facebook, so thought he would apply his expertise to help his mother-in-law.

“When she came home on Saturday she was so dejected,” he said. “We thought to ourselves ‘why don’t we make a page to market her?’”

The Facebook page shows several pictures of Roz, who said she just wanted to meet someone she could trust.

“I’m looking for someone who’s genuine.

“There does seem to be a problem with a lot of people my age trying to start new relationships.

“Everybody in their 50s has probably got baggage but it’s how you deal with that past.”
