A cyclist is in a critical condition after she was involved in a crash with a people carrier in St Neots.

The 49-year-old collided with a Ford Galaxy in Cambridge Street at its junction with Cromwell Road at 6.34am today (Thursday).

The woman suffered life-threatening injuries and is being treated at Addenbrooke’s Hospital. An East of England Ambulance Service spokesman said that she had sustained a head injury in the incident.

The driver of the Galaxy was not injured. The road was closed off by police and diversions were put in place, which have since been lifted.

Pc Jay Porter, investigating, said: “I would appeal to anyone who witnessed the collision or either the vehicle or cyclist prior to it, to call police.”

Anyone with any information should call the roads policing unit on 101.
