Seven Huntingdonshire villages are set to battle it out in a box kart race next Saturday (July 5).

Residents in Molesworth, Catworth, Bythorn, Brington, Keyston, Leighton Bromswold and Old Weston have been busy designing karts ready for the race down High Street, Molesworth.

Rosy Foulds, 33, who lives in High Street, Molesworth, came up with the idea. She said: “Instead of having small events in each of our seven villages we thought we’d have one big one with all the villages involved. The idea is to build a kart and give it a push and let it run down the hill. The karts aren’t allowed to have any mechanical parts. Our one has been made out of two matching children’s bikes – one of our group had a disc cutter he’d been dying to try out and so we’ve made a trike. The only thing we need to sort out still is the brakes.”

She added: “Each village will have a stall, there will be two bouncy castles, a plant stall, a tea and coffee stall and others.”

INFORMATION: Racing starts at 1.30pm.
