Cambridgeshire gets nearly £2m to spend fixing potholes in our roads

An extra £1.9million has been given to Cambridgeshire to spend on filling potholes.

Following a successful bid to Government, Cambridgeshire County Council (CCC) found out on Friday that it has been awarded an extra £1,933,337 for highway repairs. This is on top of the £1,531,297 that CCC was awarded in March this year to help repair potholes following the bad winter weather.

The latest money means CCC has received in total around £3.5m on top of the £10m road maintenance grant it had been given.

County Councillor Peter Reeve, vice-chairman of the highways and community infrastructure committee, said: “This is great news and shows that Cambridgeshire County Council made a really good case to Government.

“The money will be well spent on repairing our roads and 
paths. Fixing potholes is a continuous job for the authority and is vital to keep Cambridgeshire moving.”
