Firefighters received four calls during their last strike action period.

The final walkout was held from 5-7pm yesterday (Monday), following eight days of industrial action in their row over pensions.

In Huntingdonshire, one crew was called to a skip fire in Brookside, Sawtry, at 6.12pm. They extinguished the flames using jets and hose reels by 6.51pm. The cause of the fire was accidental.

In addition, a crew was called to a fire in the open in Crown Street, New England, Peterborough, at 6.22pm. Firefighters had tackled the blaze by 6.52pm, and the cause was accidental.

They were also called to two false alarms after automatic fire alarms activated – one in Hatley St George, South Cambridgeshire, and one in Orton Goldhay, Peterborough.
