A body has been found in the search of the River Great Ouse at Hartford for a boy who was in difficulty in the water.

After an extensive search, a body was recovered shortly after 2am this morning.

The rescue mission was launched at 3.40pm yesterday when a teenage boy came into difficulty while with his friends near Riverside Park.

It is believed the boy was a 14-year-old, who studied St Peter’s School, Huntingdon.

Police officers, firefighters and paramedics joined water search specialists from Spartan Rescue for the river search at Church Lane, Hartford.

Magpas Helimedix and a hazardous area rescue team had also joined by 6pm.

A police spokesman said: “The death is not being treated as suspicious and will be passed to the coroner.”
