A former Blue Peter presenter visited Holywell Primary School to encourage the next generation of business brains.
Liz Barker, who helped present the show from 2000 until 2006, challenged the children to start a business with just £5.
The talk, on Monday (May 19), was to highlight education charity Young Enterprise’s Fiver Challenge, which asks primary school pupils to use the cash to set up mini-businesses and turn it into as much money as possible.
Her contributions from the day – colourful cards and painted flower pots – will be auctioned on the scheme’s eBay page to raise funds for the competition.
She said: “This is a fantastic way for young people to get creative and discover what they are capable of. The best way to come up with a good product to sell is by using your imagination and this is something primary school children have in abundance.”
Deputy head Claire Macdonald added: “Our students are all excited about taking part in the Fiver Challenge. Getting involved with enterprise and practical activities hugely adds to their education and prepares them for real world situations.”
