A Huntingdonshire skate school who boarded the length of a half-marathon have raised nearly £14,000 towards building an indoor skate park.

13 Let's Go Skate students, three instructors and a bunch of adults skated from St Ives to Cambridge via the Cambridgeshire Guided Busway route.

This journey took about two hours to complete, with the majority being able to get to the finish line at Cambridge North.

The length of the pathway is 12.5 miles, making it just shy of a half-marathon in distance.

Instructors Jason and Brad even skated back to St Ives, making their skate a full marathon in length.

Jason said: "We are impressed and proud of our students for being able to keep going past checkpoints.

"Over the weekend, we received £1,800 worth of donations towards our Crowdfunder with Sunday alone taking £1,100.

"As of 4pm on March 25 we are just shy of £14,000 raised in total, leaving us with an additional £6,000 left to go over the next two weeks."

He added that the team is currently brainstorming to figure out any other events that they could do to help them get towards their final £20,000 mark.
