St Ives Swimming Club is celebrating the "exceptional" performances of its young swimmers at the Swim England East Region Short Course Championships 2023, including one bronze medal.

Chloe Butler stole the show at the championships for St Ives, finishing third in the 200-metre breaststroke final with a superb swim and time of two minutes and 36 seconds.

Chloe qualified as the 4th fastest finalist in the heats but improved her qualifying time by two seconds to storm to a podium finish.

Several other swimmers also featured at the championships held in Luton from November 3-5, competing against the top athletes from the six counties of Cambridgeshire, Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire, Suffolk, Essex and Norfolk.

Ciara Taylor, Tessa Quayle, Ewan Thompson, Elliot Megginson and Olly McNeil also competed with "superb times" achieved, including a lifetime best of 32.32 in the 50-metre breaststroke for Olly.

Chloe also swam an outstanding 59.86 seconds for the 100-metre Freestyle, with it being rare for female club swimmers to go sub one minute for this event.

Chloe then finished 10th in the 100-metre Butterfly with a time of 1.05.72 to cap a memorable championships that will live long in the memory of the young talent.
