A Woodhurst woman hopes to raise £1,000 this year for a dog rescue centre in memory of her dog Dexter who died in April.
Maxine Kaye has made crochet items, painted stones to sell on local stalls and set up a JustGiving page where people can donate to Animal Helpline.
Having already raised £500, she said: "Dexter was one of many stray and unwanted dogs that come into the care of Animal Helpline.
"I adopted Dexter five years ago and, although nervous and unsure of his new surrounding, he flourished into a kind, loving little man who enjoyed life to the full.
"Dexter formed friendships with my other dogs, enjoyed walks and happy times in the garden digging holes (mostly where I had planted flowers).
"He also spent cosy evenings sleeping on the settee."
Maxine added that "a large hole has been left in my life since Dexter left, but the way I will get by without him is to remember him.
"Dexter is at sleep in the other world now along with my other departed rescue dogs.
"Let's raise money to help other dogs like Dexter."
