AFTER the first six months of the guided bus here’s one passenger’s view.

It now takes me two hours to get back from Addenbrooke’s Hospital to Huntingdon every evening. In the ‘old days’ of the A14, I could do it in 95 minutes - if it took two hours it was usually because the A14 was bad.

In the morning the 1a Whippet bus gives the 6.20am guided bus a 10-minute start, visits Houghton, Fenstanton and Bar Hill plus negotiating the A14 and still arrives in Drummer Street at about the same time as the Stagecoach bus.

They have introduced ‘fast’ buses from St Ives to Huntingdon but artificially slow them down so that the journey time from central Cambridge to Huntingdon takes one hour. It should be about 45 minutes.

I have e-mailed both Stagecoach and County Councillor Laine Kadic on two separate occasions to complain about this poor timetabling but have yet to receive a reply from either. I don’t bother with them any more.

I’m rather disappointed.
