ROMANCE blossomed with the plants and flowers at Frosts Garden Centre in Brampton last Saturday (November 14).

As Santa arrived at the centre in the famous car Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Daren Angood, 35, took the opportunity to propose to his girlfriend, Jennifer Withington.

The couple had travelled from Towcester. Daren said he wanted to propose on Chitty Chitty because the movie is Jennifer's favourite film. Daren even took, Jennifer's father, Roy with them.

He said: "I had already asked Roy's permission but he likes the car too, so I thought he should come with us."

Jennifer said: "I didn't know where I was going, Daren just told me to make sure I had the day off work. I was just shocked when I saw the car. This is the original one, the only one that is roadworthy, the others are models."

The couple had already chosen a diamond ring, which Daren took with him. He had been tipped off that Chitty would be at Frosts Brampton by a friend who works for another branch of the garden centre.

The couple, who have been together for six years, run a hot tub shop together. They met when Jennifer was working in a jeweller's shop and she sold him a watch. The have yet to decide a date for the wedding.

INFORMATION: Santa's Grotto is open at Frosts.

On Thursday, November 26, there will be a Magical Night at the centre, including product samplings; talks and demonstrations; live music and free refreshments from 5pm to 9pm. There will also be 10 per cent off a range of products.
