THE police and county council have spoken to the operators of the marina at the Pike and Eel in Needingworth after mud from dredging work was alleged to have cause accidents on the A1123 Needingworth bypass.
Hunts Post reader Paul Hine, from Bluntisham, said his motorbike had been "ripped out from under me" after he failed to see the mud in the dark.
Cambridgeshire County Council said it had had to sweep the road twice to clear the mud dropped as dredgings were transported from the marina to a farmer's field. The marina owners had now confirmed that they would provide their own road sweeper in future, a council spokesman said.
"Both we and the police have spoken to the developers," he added.
Mr Hine said there had been several mud-related accidents on the bypass in the past two weeks, and the Needingworth had become 'a sea of mud' after the marina used tractors and trailers to shift the spoil.
"A car has every chance of getting away with it, but on a motorcycle in the dark when it was raining, I failed to see the ridge of mud down the centre of the lane, he explained.
"My bike was ripped out from under me, and we slid until grinding to a halt on the verge - new motorcycle wrecked and several bruises.
"While I was lying on the verge, another motorcycle crashed, and cars were sliding all over the place to avoid us and each other.
"Apparently, mine was the third such collision formally reported to the police who say they are looking into it."
The police confirmed that two collisions had been reported on the bypass, on Tuesday and Wednesday last week. There were no reports of injuries.
The marina owners were not available for comment.
