PERCUSSIONIST Dame Evelyn Glennie officially opened Huntingdon's new £4.6million library on Monday (November 9).
The building in Princes Street opened to the public in June offering 20,000 new books, a children's section with nearly 6,000 books, meeting rooms and a café.
Ms Glennie was given a tour of the premises and saw items including the Cromwell Collection, which has dedicated space in the building, as does a carved bust of Sir John Major. The building is also equipped with free wi-fi.
Cambridgeshire County Councillor Sir Peter Brown, cabinet member for communities, said: "The library has proved to be a huge success with the public and has already attracted 2,000 new members.
"I am delighted that Dame Evelyn Glennie agreed to perform the official opening."
