The Labour Party
LABOUR is green and caring.
Projects for Huntingdon include £100million on the guided bus project, now being built.
Environmentally-friendly housing developments include Northstowe and exploration of eco-towns for Cambridgeshire.
Travel by bus is being encouraged: all pensioners over 60 can now receive bus passes that can be used throughout England and on local journeys throughout Huntingdonshire.
For those concerned about climate change Labour has spent £8million on flood defences in St Ives and the Hemingfords.
Caring for the health of Huntingdon citizens, Labour has improved Hinchingbrooke Hospital and the services it provides. Labour is reforming the health service to give more treatment in local surgeries and more customer-friendly appointment times.
Labour has introduced law and order initiatives to control youth behaviour, for example the ASBO in the Kings Hedges area of St Ives.
Labour councillors will also seek activities for young people, such as a multiplex cinema in St Neots, better access to swimming pools, shelters and organised games in parks.
Labour is ordering Huntingdonshire to recycle more. Local recycling also helps the environment.
Labour is supporting the repair and development of the St Ives Corn Exchange.
