The Crow and the Community

It has helped in gaining public awareness of the Pink Ribbon Run/Walk over the past two years. The event has raised more than £50,000 for Cancer Research UK.

Les Baker gets a soaking
Crow editor, Les Baker, becomes a victim of the ducking stool.

The Royston crow is a media partner for the Rotary Club of Royston's annual Kite Festival, which attracted an estimated 6,000 people this year, a record attendance since it began. The Royston Crow supports the event each year and the Editor was on the judging panel for the best kite competition. The event also raises money for a number of charities.

The Crow continues to support the Mayor of Royston and his charity of the year: the Royston Stroke Club and the Lewin Stroke Unit at Addenbrooke's hospital.

In the past, too, Crow reporters have raised cash by being involved in such activities as charity parachute jumps and sponsored walks - and the editor was also the victim of a ducking stall to raise money for the Royston Parish Church.
