A poem for Shelly

Oh Shell why did you have to die you were oh so very young

Everyone is asking why there’s so much you hadn’t done

You always seemed so popular but often felt alone

But Shelly you should see us all

And the heartbreak in your home

Our life on earth is oh so brief but yours was even shorter

Seeing you Brother and Sisters grief

And your Parents lost their Daughter

You always seemed so full of life so vibrant even wild

But underneath it all Shell you were still all but a child

You always seemed so full of life and always had a smile

But you left without a warning you couldn’t walk another mile

Oh Shell why did you have to go why did you have to leave

The void you’ve left you’ll never know and we are left to grieve

People on the outside only saw your laughter they didn’t see your pain

But with the heartache inside of you things didn’t seem the same

Losing your babies broke you heart and that pain is hard to bear

And grieving is the hardest part

And a pain that’s hard to share

But now you are a mum again only now you have arms and wings

A loving mum without any pain an angel that always sings

I don’t think we will ever get over this and the pain will last for years

And when we gave you one last kiss

We couldn’t hold back the tears

But thank you Shell for being you and the memory’s that we shared

We didn’t have you very long but we know you loved and cared

So rest now Shell till again we meet and again we see your smile

Rest now Shell you were so sweet and knowing you has been worthwhile

And when we raise a glass to toast and we have laid you your soul to rest

We will say goodnight Shelly Boast and know you were the best.
