Domestic abuse hurts us all,and it's all about control. Being married does not give anyone the right to control another human being. Love is not beating and threatening to kill the person you claim to love. The abuse he inflicted on his wife in front of their small child will affect the child forever. I am an advocate at a domestic abuse shelter in the US and abusers all fit the same pattern. It is almost as though they went to university and got a degree in it. They use the same words, the same actions. No-one deserves to be physically or emotionally abused. It's a no win situation. Many women and children lose there lives every year because of creeps like him who think marriage means ownership of another human being. Hopefully some jail time will cool him down, but I doubt it. He'll come back all sorry and loving (we call it the honeymoon phase) and then he will start his control all over again. If she is smart, she will leave the area and assume a new identity. Hopefully she will keep track of when he gets out, they should let her know as they do over here.
I would just like to say THANK GOD the police now are taken action against these men that think that it is justice to beat their women and children. I lived with a very violent man for 7 years in Stevenage Herts. And no matter how many times I reported it to the polcice they did nothing. They patted the man on his back for beating me.
If it was not for the help of a womans aid group I would of been dead now and my children would of lost a mother and been put in care. The goverment need to fund more houses for the famillies that leave a violent partner. They are the victims here. It is hard to live in a household that is overloaded with other women and children. And the benefits that they have to live on is nothing. The man should move away and put in prison.Why are we still being treted badly when the man gets to stay where he is with his friends and family.
